Fall and Spring Internship Program Overview


We are so excited that you are interested in the ICC fall and/or spring Internship! Each semester our interns add great value to our organization, and we look forward to each new team. Each Intern experiences transformational training and growth, and the ICC Team looks forward to empowering every team and each team member.


The Institute for Cultural Communicators is a non-profit organization, with a training center in Murfreesboro, TN, and an accounting office in Shaker Heights, OH. Our mission is to design experiences through with ordinary students become extraordinary leaders. We offer internship opportunities that provide personal and professional development, targeting areas of communication, leadership, and mentoring. Interns gain valuable experience while serving alongside ICC Global and Area Leaders to promote and develop ICC opportunities around the globe. Positions are available for fall and spring of each year.


The internship program is designed to accomplish several objectives within the organization, including:


  • Provide advanced leadership training and mentoring for young, emerging leaders
  • Extend peer mentoring for ICC participants 6 to 18 years of age
  • Offer help and encouragement to parents, teacher, and coaches
  • Create opportunities for young leaders to partner with senior leaders to learn essential skills

 Roles and Responsibilities of Interns


  • Provide leadership, teaching and management support at ICC events
  • Represent ICC at the events of other organizations
  • Market ICC live events and other ICC opportunities
  • Instruct in the ICC Academy
  • Innovate new programming
  • Collaborate to design new and innovative curricular resources
  • Speak on behalf of the organization on a variety of platforms
  • Spend time with other organizations getting to know more about their mission/vision while working on mutually beneficial solutions for shared service audiences

Internship Application Requirements


All prospective interns must:

  • Have been Inducted into Young Speakers Guild
  • Have completed the Online Communication Certification (taken in two parts: Online Basics and Online Intermediate) and Peacemaking Intro. Both of these courses can be found in the Academy.
  • Have served on PREP/Media PREP Team
  • Have served on an area and or global student leader team (ASLT, GLSMT, GSLT)
  • Have attended an international event in the past 12 months (IGNITE, PREP/Media PREP, or iCON)
  • Be at least 18 years of age on or before the start date of your Internship.
  • Serve as a Student Instructor (SI) during the year before applying.
  • Adhere to the  ICC Standards and Practices.
  • Be available for the schedule of events, dates, and locations in the Internship Time Commitments.

 

Additionally, the Intern selection committee is looking for the following characteristics in successful applicants:

  • Fully supports the mission of ICC
  • Described as an initiator by friends, family, and colleagues
  • Enjoys working in a team environment
  • Demonstrates professionalism and mature communication skills
  • Exhibits servant leadership`
  • Maintains a strong work ethic and stamina to enjoy a fast-paced, maximum performance work environment
  • Exemplifies integrity



Application Process


Applying to serve as an ICC Intern is a 4-tier process. Each tier provides additional opportunity for both Prospective Interns and the Selection Committee to discern whether an ICC Internship role is a fit. All applicants will be notified by email whether they will be advancing through each tier.


Interested applicants must do the following to be considered for the Internship Program: 

1. Complete the Internship Application.

2. Register as a Prospective Intern at IGNITE or iCON.

3. You will be added to the PI Classroom in the Academy and must complete all assignments in the PI Classroom.

4. Once PIs are selected for the Touring Intern Team they are required to provide the final documentation.

  •  Written documentation for complete physical and dental exam 
  •  Submit a background check with $45 fee (does not apply to non-U.S. citizens)
